Photo Patterns sends Back every photo or Art Work sent in for the pattern to be made when we send your your finished order.Can my photo or art work be sent in via e-mail for my pattern?
Yes you can send your photo or art work via e-mail. If you do send it via e-mail you must make sure it's got the right colors and detail as not all computers scan and send the same color depth and detail. .
BACKIs it better if I send them by regular mail ?
We like to work from the original copy of the photo or art work. That way we can feed it into our photograph scanner and know its correct as the original was so yes its better.
BACKWhat is the turn around time on an order?
Most time an order is completed within 10 business days... It can vary depending if you have a lot of corrections to the order and want cropping done also. Also if you request an order be put on our preview page and you don't get right back with us to approve it. We ship via Priority Mail and regular mail out of the USA. Tell us if your order is more urgent and we will give it priority
BACKCan I pay for my order with a personal check?
You can pay with a personal check if your ordering from the USA or Canada. If from Canada You must mark the $ amount on your check to be paid in USA Fund. If from other than USA or Canada you must pay with a Bank Draft in USA funds.

Yes, your order is guaranteed for 15 days after you receive it. If for any reason you're not satisfied with the quality of your order, you can return it along with the original and we will create a replacement pattern. This is for quality of pattern and not if you don't like the results of your stitching. We give instructions and if you follow them it will turn out fine.

We will advise on suitability of photographs, pattern size, and to quote the cost of any special work. Send your photograph and the order form and we will contact you with the details. There is no obligation to purchase You may send us payment to process the order or we will return your photograph at no cost to you.

No, the photographer owns the copyright of the photograph but R and M Business Services own the copyright of the Photo Patterns® pattern.
Anyone who wants to use the pattern for any commercial purpose must make an agreement with us.

No, a custom made Photo Patterns® pattern will not be sold to anyone else. You are assured that your finished work will be unique. We keep your copy of the pattern in a file in case you lose or it gets damaged. We will delete the file on request.

We respect your privacy. Photo Patterns respects the rights of our customers privacy. Any information supplied to us will only be used to process your order, reply to your questions and to make improvements to our site. We keep a running file of all normal (snail) mail and e-mail addresses. We do not share our list of customers with anyone. We may on occasion send out e-mails to our customers for more great deals and NEW items that have been added. We keep orders on file for six months. If after six months we charge a Service Charge to search for your order in our electronic file system. This electronics is keep for two years.

Every time you order a pattern you will receive one point towards a standard pattern. After you collect four (4)
points you will receive for one penny a standard pattern.If you tell a friend about Photo Patterns and they place an order with us, you will receive one (1) point towards your
penny standard pattern. This does not include shipping.The friend will receiveone (1) point towards his or her penny standard pattern.

You can also receive one (1) point each time you complete one of our Photo Patterns and send us a picture of the

What size photo or art work can you make a pattern from?
The bigger the better for a photo or art work. We have made patterns from wallet size pictures and have made patterns from photo and art work that are larger than 15 X 15 inches. We do charge a fee for larger than 11.5 and 9.5 inches..
BACKWhat makes your patterns so realistic?
The software used to make Photo Patterns® patterns is unique. We do not market it for anyone else to buy or use to provide a similar service. The exact process is a trade secret but spots of color in the photograph are converted into stitches and matched to the closest available floss color, not limited to a select range of colors.
BACKWhat is the largest size cross stitch you can make?
Photo Patterns has made a couple of cross stitch patterns that were 3 foot by 4 foot, this was from a 8 X 10 photo. The pattern was almost 200 sheets. The results was excellent and the customer ordered two more to stitch. You can only go as big as the AIDA cloth you can get
BACKDo we record names and email addresses etc.?
Photo Patterns keeps all invoices for two years. We do not give any information to anyone. We do use the e-mail address to send out news letters.

We usually look at the pattern and then use our Photo Patterns Pattern maker program and let it picks the best count for your pattern. If you want a certain count we will make it as you want but let you know its not the best choice,.
BACKCan I use any Brand Floss I want to use?
Yes you can but we usually use DMC as it's the one that seems to have the best color match and can be bought in most any store that sells craft supplies
BACKHow will I know the floss color of each stitch?
Each stitch is represented on the graph by a symbol. A table shows all the symbols with their floss color number and how many stitches use this color, so you have an idea of the amount of floss you will need.
BACKHow many colors will be in my pattern?
It varies with each photograph but an average is 80 to 100 colors. Often there are some colors used in just a few stitches but they add to the realistic appearance.
BACKIs the pattern easy to read with so many colors?
Yes, the pattern is clearly printed black on white paper with floss symbols an eighth of an inch (3 mm) square.
BACKDo you have Photo Patterns kits?
Photo Pattern does sell kits for your cross stitch project. They are expensive but have an advantage if you can't get out or don't have a supply of floss and cross stitch products near where you live. The kit has the Basic Pattern and two Cross Stitch needles, Aida Cloth and the floss required to finish the kit. We give Aida Cloth that is the right size for the pattern ordered.

Yes, we can crop the picture to your instructions. This is how you can do it. "Do not cut or mark your photo", it is best to make a photocopy and mark or draw lines on it where you want it cropped. A large pattern can be made from just a small part of a photo, if the photo is clear.For special effect we can produce an oval or round pattern rather than the standard rectangular.
BACKCan you remove the background?
Yes, but we do not usually recommend it. We can replace the background with a new color or a different background. We use only full size stitches so the edge could look ragged and some detail could be lost.
BACKHow big should the pattern be?
The more stitches in the pattern, the better the detail will be.Faces need 40 to 50 stitches across, and about 100 for a close-up portrait.If you are more interested in the people than their clothes, you could have a pattern of just head and shoulders.If the photo was taken from a distance you may not want all the surroundings.
BACKHow big will the finished stitching be?
Any Photo Patterns® pattern may be stitched on any count fabric. To calculate the size, divide the number of stitches in the pattern by the fabric count. For example, using 14 Count Aida, 140 stitches across the pattern, would be 140 divided by 14. That equals 10 inches across. Another example, using 32 Count Linen over 2 threads, 140 stitches across the pattern, would be 140 divided by 32 divided by 2. That equals 8.75 inches across. The same to calculation using the number of stitches in the height of the pattern to find the height of the stitched work. You must add extra fabric all around the stitching to allow for framing and a mat if you intend to use one.
BACKHow can I work from a pattern with so many stitches?
The graph is printed on easy to handle 81/2 X 11 size sheets.The layout of the graph sheets is shown with the floss color symbol table. You can a strips to mark a 10 x 10 block of stitches which I complete before moving to the next block unless there are more of the same color close by. I also mark the pattern so that when it is put away, or dropped, I can put the strips back in the right place! To simplify counting stitches, We recommend squares of 10 stitches.

Photo Patterns has a directory of over 10,000 photos and art work . We don't display them as there are too many. If you let us know the theme you want we will send you a file with some that we have.

A standard pattern is just a pattern made up from your photo or art work and includes the charts made up of symbols to
represent each floss color and a chart showing the floss colors to floss number and a chart showing the approximate
amount of floss needed for ach color. This will give all the information needed to purchase the floss to complete your
cross stitch project. We have either a Standard Pattern or our Kits. Anything except our kits would be a Standard Pattern.

Patterns by e-mail is a fast way of receiving your pattern. The system was originally used for out of the country orders
to speed up the time to receive your pattern due to slow mail outside the United States and the high cost of mail
out side the USA. It can be used for any order. You have to down load the viewer and you will print your own pattern.
If you live in the USA and sent a picture or art work it's not the the best way as we still have to mail your picture or art
work back anyway and can send your pattern along with your pictures. We ship Priority mail and the time in the USA
is at the most four days. IF, you used e-mail to send your picture or art work and used our e-check, you can have
your order within 72 hours by using Patterns by e-mail.

Photo Pattern is thinking about sending patterns via e-mail but at this time has not made a decision as yet. In the next few months we will test a method of doing this and will be looking for customers to help test it.
BACKWhen I return to a form some or all of my input is lost or has changed. Why?
You could be using a very old browser like Internet Explorer 2.x or 3.x. These browsers do not save inputs when you click the browser's BACK button to return to a form. The reason to return to a form is that you have not filled all the required field the first time. Its important to fill each required field out fully. Please don't use the browser's BACK button if there is a BACK button on the actual page that came up. Netscape and Internet Explorer 4.0 or better automatically save all your inputs. Please upgrade.

Yes. Photo Pattern sees the form you fill out. The only form you fill out that can be seen by others is the comments form and that states it will post your comments..
